This website was created by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon, with funding from the BC Health Living Alliance and supported by ActNow BC.
The BC Healthy Living Alliance (BCHLA) (www.bchealthyliving.ca) is the largest health promotion coalition ever assembled in BC. Leading health organizations came together to form the BCHLA to improve the health of British Columbians by promoting physical activity, healthy eating and living smoke-free.
In 2006, ActNow BC (www.actnowbc.ca) awarded the BCHLA a one-time grant to promote the goals of ActNow BC by encouraging healthy eating, increasing physical activity and eliminating tobacco use. A strategy was developed for each risk factor, and in the fall of 2007, the BCHLA identified funding for this website as part of their Tobacco Reduction Strategy and appointed the Heart and Stroke Foundation as lead.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon (www.heartandstroke.bc.ca) is a volunteer-based charity leading the way to eliminating heart disease and stroke through advancements in research, promotion of healthy living and advocacy.
Many thanks are due to our Smoke-Free Housing Advisory Committee Members, whose advice, input and guidance was indispensable in creating this valuable resource for British Columbians:
