Welcome to the first dedicated website in Canada designed to encourage and assist landlords to create more smoke-free options for British Columbians living in apartments and condominiums.
This site will provide information and assistance to tenants who are suffering from second-hand smoke seeping into their homes from neighbouring units.

While provincial and municipal laws provide British Columbians with extensive protections from second-hand smoke where they work, eat and play, many people are still being exposed to unwanted second-hand smoke where they live.

If you are a renter, it’s likely you have been bothered by the smell of tobacco smoke coming from a neighbouring unit or patio. A recent survey found that over one-third of British Columbians living in apartments and condominiums have experienced second-hand smoke seeping into their homes. This is a huge problem for many families, especially for those with chronic diseases and conditions such as heart disease or asthma.

Despite strong public support and demand for smoke-free homes, there is a significant shortage of smoke-free buildings for British Columbians who want and need to live smoke-free.
